Victoria Irvine
Victoria was born in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire in 1983. She spent her childhood in various towns throughout Lanarkshire, including Shotts and Airdrie, before attending Dalziel High School in Motherwell. After school, Victoria gained a degree in History of Art at the University of Glasgow, going on to gain an MLitt qualification in Nineteenth Century Art, Architecture and Design. She is scheduled to complete a PhD in History of Art in 2012, researching circles of Victorian artists' models. Victoria enjoys presenting academic talks, and has done so at the University of Exeter, Stills Gallery in Edinburgh, and the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid. Before working for McTear's, Victoria gained experience of the arts sector in Glasgow Museums, as a Visitor Assistant, and at Motherwell Heritage Centre, as a Museum Interpreter. Victoria's interests include outings to museums and National Trust properties, playing the piano and learning to operate her brand new sewing machine. Victoria aims to complete her PhD, eventually taking the plunge and stepping on to the rostrum herself!
