PUNTERS GET THE CHANCE TO PICK UP A PIECE OF CELEBRITY HISTORY

Fancy owning a couch that Tony Blair and Al Gore relaxed on, or what about a dressing table used by Christine Aguilera, or even a dining table where Scottish screen icon, Sir Sean Connery, had his tea?

McTear’s is giving celebrity watchers the chance to pick up a little piece of celebrity history as the contents of the Sheraton’s luxurious Presidential suites go under the hammer in Glasgow on 30th January.

“If furniture could talk then these high quality pieces would certainly have a few tales to tell,” says McTear’s Director Brian Clements. “Everyone from the Black Eyed Peas and Vin Diesel, to Kofi Annan and Christian Slater have stayed in the Presidential Suites so you can be guaranteed that each of the pieces has been used by some of the highest profile figures on the planet.”

To mark its 25th anniversary in Edinburgh, the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is undertaking a multi-million pound refurbishment of all its bedrooms and suites throughout 2010 and as part of the makeover management has decided to put various items from the suites up for auction.

Amongst the lots on offer will be two mahogany dining tables and accompanying chairs, Chippendale style desks, a dressing table, a Georgian chest of drawers, armchairs, couches and even a couple of mahogany TV cabinets.

“This is a great opportunity to pick up a real piece of celebrity history,” continues Brian Clements. “There is no doubt these items would provide a very interesting talking point in any home.”

The auction will take place at McTear’s Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers, Meiklewood Gate, Glasgow on Saturday 30th January.

The catalogue will appear here within the next two weeks. To be advised on when a catalogue is published, subscribe to our email Newsletter.  You can also follow us on Twitter.
